Epsilon’s eConnect solution supports KDDI’s corporate clients with flexible
local-access networks in Asia’s major business hubs

Epsilon, a privately owned global communications service provider, has been selected by KDDI, a Japanese carrier and ICT solutions provider, to deliver local-access networks in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Epsilon’s eConnect solution simplifies connecting enterprise locations by aggregating multiple local networks into a single complete solution. This extends KDDI’s MPLS network across these business hubs giving its corporate customers seamless connectivity from PoP-to-PoP and building-to-building.

eConnect has been successfully deployed in enterprise locations in Asia, the Middle
East, Africa and Europe. It leverages Epsilon’s more than 500 operator relationships
to enable service providers like KDDI to efficiently extend their local-access reach
and serve corporate customers with connectivity that is both flexible and robust.

“Local-access networks remain a challenge for operators around the world and
eConnect is a way to serve growing enterprise demand without investing time and
resource in procurement. KDDI has been able to leverage our existing relationships
and expertise in cross-connects to give its customers access to the enterprise
locations they need,” says Elisabeth Schwarz, Regional Director, Carrier Business
APAC at Epsilon.

KDDI’s global strategy in providing end-to-end ICT infrastructure solutions,
integrating data centres, cloud services, system security and networks is founded on
highly reliable and powerful connectivity. Its strategy is especially focused on
large enterprise business growth in East Asia.

“KDDI serves a range of corporate customers from Japanese SMEs through to MNCs and
we needed a way to efficiently serve local-access demand without adding complexity
to our operation. The answer was to outsource local-access networks with Epsilon’s
eConnect solution and give our customers reliable building-to-building connectivity
in Hong Kong and Singapore,” says Tamotsu Watanabe, General Manager, Global ICT
Business Division at KDDI. “Epsilon’s outsourcing model is a logical and efficient
way to solve local access challenges.”

eConnect enables service providers to tap into Epsilon’s existing supplier NNIs and
procure global local-access services without having to set up their own
interconnects with other service providers directly. This supports their enterprise
connectivity needs and enables them to deliver greater reach and efficiency for
their International Private Leased Circuit, Ethernet Private Line, Direct Internet
Access and IP-VPN services.
