Comba Telecom, a global wireless solutions provider has won a contract to implement integrated commercial and public safety wireless networks at a major luxury resort currently under construction at the Cotai Strip, Macau.
Under the multi-million dollar contract, Comba Telecom is designing and installing a turnkey solution to enable an advanced digital TETRA network operating on the 850MHz band.
The TETRA network will have two subsystems: a public safety communications system for the Macau Police Force and an in-house communications system for the resort employees.
Due to the security and mission critical factors, the installed TETRA subsystems will allow for authentication of approved devices and encryption of communications to protect against eavesdropping. In addition to voice and dispatch services, the subsystems will also support data communications including status messages and short data services (SDS).
Supporting up to 12 carriers, the solution includes the deployment of a series of active and passive equipment and antennas to ensure 99% reliability and total indoor and outdoor coverage within the resort. At the core of the solution is the Comba RA8000 DAS (distributed antenna system) -- a modular and scalable system that enables the easy expansion of the network coverage. In effect, the Comba Telecom solution is able to grow and keep pace with the growth of the resort as it is being built.
The luxury casino resort is owned by a developer and operator of high end hotels and casinos and headquartered in the USA. The new resort will be the corporation's second luxury integrated resort in Macau and the first in the Cotai Strip. Currently under construction, the resort will feature a luxury hotel, gaming, dining, retail and convention facilities, as well as number of tourist attractions. With a construction area of over 450,000 square meters, the resort is scheduled to open in 2016.
Kevin Ma, General Manager of Comba Telecom in Macau said, "We are honored to be selected as the solution provider for this project. The TETRA network will offer ubiquitous and secure communications for the resort to ensure the smooth running of back end operations. Importantly, the network is a public safety system for Macau's police and security forces to ensure uninterrupted communications with HQ and amongst themselves throughout the resort."
Simon Yeung, Executive Director and Senior Vice President of the Group said, "We are pleased with this latest success in Macau. Over the years, Comba Telecom has built a solid reputation in the territory as the premier wireless solution partner not only for operators, but also the hospitality and leisure industry. We have invested in building up dedicated technical and service teams and our track record is a reflection of this. On a global level, this project joins our other successes that includes last years' soccer world cup and winter games."
