In its bid to contribute towards the ongoing 'Make in India' initiative by the government of India, Celkon has announced that it is all set to launch its state-of-the–art manufacturing facility that is set to come up in Medchal within the next week. Minister for IT KT Rama Rao (KTR) is expected to inaugurate the unit soon.
Celkon’s manufacturing unit will begin with four production lines and will eventually enhance its capacity to higher levels. Celkon has invested heavily in training its manpower and is all set to start production.
Commenting on the first step towards setting up the unit Y Guru, Chairman and Managing Director, Celkon Mobiles, said “We are very pleased to be one of the first companies to unveil our plans in setting up the manufacturing unit, this unit will greatly boost our ability to meet the demand for our game changing products as well as contribute to the overall ‘Make in India’ revolution promoted by the government of India.”
Celkon was one of the early movers in envisioning a manufacturing unit in the country and has been actively pursuing the state and centre to bring about a supportive ecosystem that can enable handset manufacturing. These include promoting ancillary units, support infrastructure - capital subsidy, tax breaks/benefits and social infrastructure setup.
