Bluebird Network, a communications infrastructure provider with 10,000 route miles of fiber and operator of two data centers, announces a new and diverse fiber path across the Mississippi River between the cities of Hannibal, MO and Quincy, IL.

This 6.25-mile fiber route brings a new option for carrier network traffic, avoiding congested areas and increasing the efficiency and dependability of the company’s already robust fiber backbone.

With the new network path being physically diverse from existing routes, information can now travel directly between major metro areas like Kansas City and Chicago without having to pass through St. Louis. Businesses in St. Louis, Kansas City and the Bluebird Underground Data Center will also benefit from an express pathway to the Bluebird Quad Cities Data Center and Chicago.

The direct and discrete route offers customers an ultimate level of survivability, keeping businesses running smoothly. For the Hannibal and Quincy communities, the new connection allows Bluebird to provide wavelengths, MPLS, and other services along the route.

“At every opportunity, we are going to strengthen our network throughout the Midwest to provide the best in terms of reliability, redundancy and security,” says Michael Morey, President & CEO of Bluebird Network. “Having a route avoiding congested areas gives us a layer of geographical resilience to empower enterprises and carriers utilizing our network.”

Bluebird Network supports increased productivity and innovation for businesses throughout the Midwest by supplying robust and reliable fiber services necessary to thrive in the next era of digital transformation. The company provides an array of services including Ethernet solutions, dedicated internet, Cloud Connections, dark fiber, wavelengths, colocation, and more.
