BC Tech Summit: Global thought leaders gather in Vancouver to talk innovation

This year at the annual BC Tech Summit conference held in Vancouver, British Columbia, attendees were treated to keynotes, workshops, masterclasses and networking events, all designed to harness emerging tech to build business opportunities and solve global problems.

As the title sponsor for BC Tech Summit, Rogers had a strong presence and participated in many meaningful discussions about how connected technologies are opening up worlds of possibilities for business, the public sector and communities across British Columbia and Canada.

As well, in his keynote address, Chief Technology Officer Jorge Fernandes announced that Rogers will double its investments this year to expand its LTE network in B.C., boost and densify its fibre-powered network in Vancouver, and lay the groundwork for 5G in the province. Rogers also enabled hundreds of attendees, including BC Premier Hon. John Horgan, to experience the power of 5G applications at its demo booth.

Attracting more than 3,500 full delegates over the course of three days, the event, which has become Western Canada’s largest annual innovation conference, brought together more than 1,200 organizations from around the world.

The #BCTECHSummit showcases B.C.’s vibrant technology industry, builds cross-sector and cross-border opportunities for businesses and explores the latest ideas and innovations solving challenges and fueling the global economy.

Hosted annually by the BC government and Innovate BC, the #BCTECHSummit brings together technology leaders, industry executives, investors, senior government officials, researchers and students to connect and share insights, experiences and opportunities.

Recognized as Western Canada’s largest annual innovation event, the 2018 event featured 1,200 companies, 200+ speakers, 270 exhibitors, 150 investors representing $200B in capital, and international delegates spanning 23 countries and six continents. It highlighted that transformations technology is driving across all industries and showcased innovation’s impact on how we work, live and play.
