Airports have to provide a smooth experience to move passengers through terminals and onto their flights. For improved security and efficiency in radio communications, the world’s number one airport operator Aena will implement a new DIMETRA X Core TETRA digital radio system and more than 1,600 TETRA radio terminals from Motorola Solutions.
The next generation digital radio technology will be deployed at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport starting from 2020.
Motorola Solutions’ new DIMETRA X Core system will connect users at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport and enable secure and reliable mission-critical communications across the entire site.
The system will be used by airline staff, ramp agents, baggage handlers and service personnel to help increase travelers’ safety as well as the efficiency of ground operations.
“Our DIMETRA X Core technology is an ideal solution for updating and expanding existing TETRA infrastructure at crucial hubs and transfer points like airports,” explained Michael Kaae, regional vice president Europe at Motorola Solutions. “With the system, we refresh and expand the coverage of the installed equipment and ensure that Aena has a leading, powerful technology at its disposal to meet latest requirements far into the future, including software for air navigation and latest cyber security standards.”
