Infobip has entered into a five-year strategic partnership with Bayobab, a leading African digital connectivity provider. Bayobab will leverage Infobip’s Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) client modules and routing management to manage campaign management, APIs, analytics, and deliver SMS in Africa and beyond.
Bayobab will also have access to Infobip’s security solutions, such as a best-in-class firewall, to ensure the safety of its mobile subscribers. Through this partnership, Bayobab streamlines its SMS connectivity and reduces associated administrative costs.
Bayobab picks Infobip to modernize SMS services in Africa
Bayobab is a leader in connectivity and infrastructure in Africa, operating extensively across the continent, with over 115,000 km of fibre optic cables. Bayobab directly or indirectly manages 24 submarine cables, as well as over 70 points of presence (PoPs) in Africa, Europe and Asia.
Until now, brands had to connect individually to each MTN Group Mobile Network Operator (MNO) to complete SMS. Using Infobip’s CPaaS platform modules, Bayobab simplifies this process so that brands and aggregators can now connect once and securely terminate traffic to MTN and other operators. This solution provides greater control, security, reporting and efficiency, benefiting brands, mobile operators and message recipients.
Kedar Gupte, Chief Mobility Business Officer at Bayobab, said: “We wanted to simplify the way brands manage messaging in Africa with a single point of access, high-quality service and the necessary controls. Our partnership with Infobip allows us to do this at scale and is critical to tapping into Africa’s growth potential, where consumers are demanding messaging solutions, chat apps and internet access.”
Matija Ražem, Chief Commercial Telecom Officer at Infobip, said : “Our partnership optimizes Bayobab’s connectivity and SMS routing across Africa, contributing to its expansion plans. We have invested heavily in our CPaaS deployment capabilities, which now serve MNOs worldwide with best-in-class security and efficiency.”
“Infobip has been managing global SMS traffic since 2006. We excel in the messaging ecosystem with the latest technologies, secure processes and best practices. Expanding this to large entities is a logical step. The time is right for more mobile operator groups to adopt a centralized approach and maximize their messaging opportunities.”
Infobip’s CPaaS enablement modules, now available to all MNOs, include the following:
Outstanding CPaaS platform : campaign and ID management, bulk messaging, usage reporting
Route management: source, destination, quality, volume, percentage, time, traffic type
Revenue Protection: Grey Route Detection, Automated Penetration Testing, Minimum Cost, Minimum Margin
Unified reporting: management overview, partner access, flexible interface, trend analysis
Onboarding: online visibility and onboarding for all brands, partners and suppliers
These elements are a core component of Infobip’s CPaaS solution. It can integrate core telco network capabilities with RCS MaaP building blocks and Camara-compliant network APIs. Infobip’s CPaaS solution and its developer network will help telcos monetize CPaaS opportunities more effectively. This is an important step for Infobip in democratizing the messaging ecosystem globally, hand in hand with telcos.
