Service continuity to the fore as TRACE acquires Sony UK music channels

It may be recalled that in December 2018, the leader in Afro-urban music and entertainment, TRACE, had acquired four UK-based music TV channels from Sony Pictures Television.

The channels, Chart Show TV, Chart Show Hits, Starz and The Vault, are available on the Sky platform, with The Vault also holding a place on Freesat.

As an existing partner of both Sony and TRACE, Arqiva was the natural migration partner to ensure the assets were seamlessly transferred to their new ownership with no disruption to viewers.

Services provided for TRACE include:
Content contribution
Multiplexing and
Satellite distribution (including UK spot beam)

Speaking on this development, Noelle Gandrille, Head of Sales, Satellite & Media, Arqiva, said, “TRACE’s acquisition of these channels is a bold statement of their intentions in the UK market and we are privileged that they selected Arqiva as their migration partner. The winning combination of the quality of our services, our track record and flexibility meant we were able to deliver on our plan to ensure viewers noticed no change when the transition took place.

“We look forward to continuing to support TRACE with their development in the UK market and further afield should the opportunity arise.”

Laurent Dumeau, CEO TRACE UK, commented:

“With this strategic acquisition, we will bring together the best of TRACE and the best of the UK Afro Urban scene.

“Having four TRACE -owned channels in the UK is a great asset on which to build the future of TRACE music networks, just as TRACE channels are transitioning from simple linear TV feeds to hybrid platforms with strongly integrated broadcast, digital, mobile and social components.”

The TRACE music channels can be found on:

Chart Show TV – Sky 364

Chart Show Hits – Sky 366

The Vault – Sky 365 and Freesat 501

Starz – Sky 369
