At a time when India is fast emerging as one of the biggest smartphone markets in the world, Lenovo Global CEO, Yang Yuanqing is bullish about the market potential for Lenovo in India, the way it is bringing out innovation and the company’s seamless amalgamation with Motorola.
Interacting with its set of key partners in India and under the theme of “Innovation Never Stands Still” Lenovo hosted its event where Lenovo Chairman and CEO, Yang Yuanqing along with Lenovo Executive Council and the Indian Leadership Team, showcased an impressive range of PCs, Smartphones, Tablets and other disruptive technologies. Special experience zones were created to display over 20 innovative devices across all segments.
In the past decade, the company transformed exponentially. Lenovo has grown from a pure play PC brand to a global leader offering a diverse range of innovative consumer, commercial, and enterprise technology products. Being frontrunners in innovation and having claimed the No 1 PC brand position for over 3 years, today, Lenovo has also become a strong player in tablets and smartphones. With the acquisition of the x86 server business last year, the company has become the only PC brand to succeed across all categories of computing devices. In the consumer technology space, the recent Motorola acquisition has catapulted Lenovo to the #4 position in the smartphone business globally and in India (IDC, Oct 2015). A significant credit for this success goes to its unflinching focus on customer-centric innovation.
Lenovo has not only re-invented and invigorated the PC category, but has also introduced new form factors, thereby differentiating itself in the commoditized category. The company has changed the way consumers perceive computing devices. With AIOs and Tiny, Lenovo has transformed desktops. The company created the 2-in-1 notebook category with the multimode laptops under the Yoga brand, and redefined the Tablet category with the Yoga Tablet. In doing so, Lenovo has taken a leadership position across different segments, thereby growing faster than the industry for several years in a row.
“Lenovo has not only transformed and redefined PCs, Smartphones, tablets as a category, it has also created new categories in the form of AIOs and multi-modes. Today, we are spearheading innovation in the consumer technology space and our award tally at CES is a definitive testimony to that. We have managed to do this by keeping consumer at the center of our innovation and making innovation an ongoing continuous focus. In fact “Innovation Never Stands Still” is not just a theme for today evening but actually a phrase emanating from the organizational DNA and the proof is here in the form of the products displayed,” remarked Lenovo Chairman and CEO, Yang Yuanqing.
“Lenovo India has grown tremendously over the last decade and is bullish about the potential of India as a market. Lenovo India has grown tremendously over the last decade which makes India strategically one of the strongest and most important markets outside China. In fact India is the only country where Lenovo offers its entire range of products from smartphones to servers. We have managed to do this not only through our innovative product lineup but also through innovation in every aspect of business be it marketing, retail or channel. As we evolve into a full-fledged customer-centric technology brand, our innovation focus will help us stay ahead of the curve,” noted Rahul Agarwal, Managing Director, Lenovo India.
