DILG taps Smart Infocast to boost communication, disaster preparedness
The Department of Interior and Local Government–Central Office Disaster Information Coordinating Center (DILG Codix) is now armed with Smart Infocast, a system that will help enhance the agency’s communication and disaster preparedness efforts.
A service of PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Smart Infocast is a web-based text message broadcast solution that can send out several short message service (SMS) alerts to a specific group of people as defined by its authorized user.
The system can deliver immediate messages to a large number of predetermined recipients. In the case of DILG, Smart Infocast can send out news broadcasts, weather bulletins, and other critical information to local government and disaster management officials, helping enhance LGUs’ information dissemination and making it an effective emergency communications solution.
The facility also allows registered subscribers to send reports or feedback to the system administrator.
